"Three Legs Don’t Wobble" is a publication that documents and reflects on the traditional craft of the Welsh stick chair. A practice deeply rooted in Welsh history, particularly within rural communities.

The project was developed as part of a wider brief exploring heritage, identity, and overlooked Welsh folk crafts.

My approach was both documentary and interpretative. I worked closely with Barnaby (@secksygreb / @bxrnxby_prend), a contemporary artist and fellow student at UWE (Fine Art), observing and recording the chair-making process through video, analogue photography, and in-depth discussion.

The final outcome is a B5, perfect-bound printed publication that captures the making of a Welsh stick chair by Barnaby. Through photography, interview extracts, annotation, and typographic detailing, the book offers a slow, observational look at the tools, gestures, and atmosphere of the workshop environment. It not only documents the physical process but also reflects on broader themes of tradition, utility, labour, and cultural continuity.
